Clinical Pharmacist Consultations

Our pharmacist Andrew has completed his next post-graduate degree to be able to diagnose, help manage, and if necessary, prescribe medications for many common ailments & health needs. This exciting new program is part of the Queensland Community Pharmacy Advanced Scope of Practice, allowing patients to receive extra medical care from their specially trained local pharmacist.

NB: there are other requirements to be eligible for the pharmacist to be able to conduct a consultation - these will be confirmed while booking the appointment or during the initial portion of the appointment.

It is important to note that having a consultation does not guarantee that a prescription will be written. Not all conditions require a prescription medication for their treatment, however if it is clinically appropriate the pharmacist will then prescribe the applicable therapy.

Currently there is no Medicare or PBS coverage for consultations, medications prescribed, or consumables used as part of this service. Prior to commencing any appointment, our pharmacist or staff will confirm any anticipated costs with you to gain informed financial consent.

Consultation fees are as follows:

  • Standard appointment (10-20 min): $36.95
    • most common appointment length for the majority of conditions
  • Long appointment (20-30 min): $71.95
    • required for more in-depth consultations such as hormonal contraception or travel health
  • Brief appointment (under 10 min): $19.95
    • follow-up appointments requiring more than a simple phone call
